As an organisation the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group strive to hire and further develop independent human beings through providing our trainees with a unique opportunity to test their ideas in the real world. Part of the opportunity is working with and learning from colleagues and managers. Many of whom have once been M.I.S.E. trainees themselves.

The combination of theory and praxis, or tuition and work experience, is one of the primary reasons that our trainees in 2 years become fully equipped to become business leaders of tomorrow.
A focal point in the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group is on the job learning. When commencing in a new position each employee in our organization will be provided with a learning description. Learning descriptions are dynamic documents outlining the employee's responsibilites, scope of work and more important what we expect the employee to learn from the position. The learning descriptions are the foundation for the yearly performance appraisals. When the trainee has reached all objectives in the learning description he or she will be given new responsibilities.
On the job learning is one of the most expensive methods for educating employees but also the most efficient one. We believe in you learning from your own successes and failures in real work-related scenarios rather than a professor telling you what the real world looks like. Learning on the job also has the nested advantage that it enables you to combine your theoretical knowledge with practical experience. You will be provided with the opportunity to use theories in praxis and analyze practical examples with theory obtained through the M.I.S.E. Programme.
By providing our trainees with an opportunity to try out their ideas and make their own mistakes we educate independent human beings with a unique ability to critically assess any challenge they are faced with.
