Research has shown that the most efficient way of learning is on-the-job training. Through the job-rotation principle the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group take the philosophy one step further. By placing trainees in 3-4 different positions during the trainee-period we take advantage of a steep learning curve in the first 6 months of every position and hereby enhance the individual learning capacity.
A common rotation includes a finance-, an administrative- and a shipping position which ensures that the trainee is not only equipped with a thorough understanding of the business of A.P. Moller - Maersk but also gains insight into the dynamics of a truly international company.
As well as ensuring accelerated learning the job-rotation principle is also instrumental for our trainees in building internal and external networks. Exposure to colleagues and management in different areas is a vehicle through which trainees position themselves for further advancement.
Through rotating our trainees and other employees on a frequent basis we develop generalists rather than specialists. We believe that generalist will be the international managers of tomorrow. The job-rotation furthermore provide you with the opportunity to identify your area of interest before moving on to more senior positions.
